5. Placements, Bangs and a huge Faneto
So what about the music? While the majority of hip-hop heads were soaked in dirty sprite in 2015, Keef was going a different direction. Been there done that. He made new rap friends and landed two album placements with perfect timing. Keef is on Mac Miller’s GO:OD AM album. He stumbled onto the track “Cut The Check” and took off into a bundle of dope bouncing bars. Keef also stole the spotlight on Travis Scott’s “Nightcrawler.” His soaring energy, lethargic flow, and taste for “Korean Spicy Garlic,” made this song a standout on “Rodeo”. Chief Keef has a knack for making records and creating moments that stick with fans. Some songs don’t land on any albums or projects but still find a way to millions of views. Loose city hits like “Sosa Chamberlain” and “Earned It” made over 20 million YouTube viewers wonder…“Did The Beat Go Off?!?”
As promised, in 2015 Sosa delivered his highly anticipated album Bang 3. He even threw in a surprise bonus with Bang 3 Part 2. The two projects dropped around the same time as Travis Scott and Mac Miller’s respective outings. These placements connected Chief Keef’s voice with more fans. Meanwhile back home, Chicagoans were going ape shit over the then-regional smash “Faneto.” The ruthless aggression of pounding 808s and Keef’s pissed off tone struck a nerve in the city all summer long. “Faneto” and Chief Keef ’s street hits in general, are a must for many Chicago DJs. Now it seems that Sosa is finally rolling — literally. His latest project Finally Rolling 2 proves he is pulling his stable of sounds together. He is finding his way and creeping on a hit. With 2016 around the corner, lets see what else Sosa has up his sleeve.
