Ravyn Lenae – Free Room
Directed by Zae
Honestly, this is exactly what I picture in my head when I imagine what a jazz club would have been like during the Harlem Renaissance. I spent the whole three minutes and forty-nine seconds wishing I was in the building when this got filmed. Also, shoutout to Zae for copping a $4K camera because this video is so clear.
TheMind – Animated Ambition
So this video was animated by a dude named Tristan Zammit, who I knew absolutely nothing about before 20 minutes ago. But he is actually cold (peep his work here). Plus, alluding back to what I said about the Ibn Inglor video, the video perfectly fits the vibe of the song.
Also, actually check out dude’s animations — that wasn’t an obligatory plug. His stuff is actually SUPER cool, especially the Earl/DOOM/ODB video.
Kanye West – Famous
Directed by Kanye
If you wanna read some theories about what the meaning behind this video was, here’s a couple ideas that the geniuses of Reddit came up with (that wasn’t sarcasm — Reddit goes hard). But regardless of what theory you agree with, I personally think this is the most thought-provoking video of the summer. And yes, I did feel pretentious writing that last sentence.
