12. Jay-Z “Lucifer” (2004)
Album: The Black Album
“Kanyeezy you did it again, you a genius!” Considering how many times ‘Ye has “done it again,” it’s hard to tell what Jay is referring to in that opening line. My guess is something on The Blueprint — maybe “Takeover.” Jay assembled an all-star team of producers for The Black Album, obviously, so this track is often considered in the context of the brilliance surrounding it. The reggae sample is Max Romeo’s “I Chase the Devil,” and you hear similar elements later in Kanye’s career, like on the G.O.O.D. tracks “Looking for Trouble” and “Mercy.” I wonder what Kanye thought of this song lyrically, knowing that historically he has preferred the simple Jay-Z to the introspective Jay-Z. Maybe this changed Kanye’s opinion?

i’m not reading 26 different pages for what’s spose to be 1 fkin list! greedy bastards just want ad-view money.
I think this is accurate list with the exception of a few tracks( spend the night-marey carey, wouldn’t get far- game, a star is born- jay z )
Too lazy to go through whole list, but Through The Wire should at least be in top 5
Very nice list! Ya’ll shoulda put Camron’s Dead Or Alive, Do Or Die’s Paid the Price, Freeway-Hear The Song.
This track isn’t a Bette Midler sample, they had to recreate it in order to clear. 5iveit
All I know is “Through The Wire” and “Down”(Cam’Ron) are some energetic azz beats
Do Or Die – Higher was one of my favorites
An 88 Keys list would be awesome
