FSD Feature: 15 Essential Bop Songs

Posted on April 17, 2014 by FSD Staff

King Deazel – Crackin

Debuted on DJ MoonDawg’s superb We Invented The Bop mixtape, King Deazel’s “Crackin” spends its verses roaming around the West side of Chicago over LeekeLeek’s diamond-hard beat. But the chorus’ tell a different story. The beat airs out and the vocal melody turns melancholy. It suddenly sounds like the memory of a great party, giving the song a nostalgic tint hinting at worlds of depth one wouldn’t normally expect out of an otherwise chippy bop song.

Its a double negative with these songs. Kids wanna hear but they don’t seem to make radio versions (at least I haven’t seen many) and you can’t play them where kids go. (Prom, outdoor fest)
