FSD Feature: 15 Essential Bop Songs

Posted on April 17, 2014 by FSD Staff

DLow – The DLow Shuffle

The runaway success of “The DLow Shuffle” provides bop music with something that other regional dances that received national attention like jerking or juking never had. A point of instant accessibility. “The DLow Shuffle”’s few moves are easy to learn and watching the bouncy DLow do them in his instructional video compels you to jump up and give it a try. But unlike the other Chicago dance track sensation, “The Cha Cha Slide,” “The DLow Shuffle” doubles as just a good song. The way DLow snaps off the songs instructions over a glimmering, militant beat is infectiously catchy and holds up to repeated listens. No dance moves required.

Its a double negative with these songs. Kids wanna hear but they don’t seem to make radio versions (at least I haven’t seen many) and you can’t play them where kids go. (Prom, outdoor fest)
