FSD Feature: 15 Essential Bop Songs

Posted on April 17, 2014 by FSD Staff

Stunt Taylor – FeFe on the Block/1 Night

While the irresistible “FeFe on the Block” might be Stunt Taylor’s current calling card, “1 Night” proves he’s more than a one hit wonder. The beat, by one of Chicago’s finest C-Sick, sounds like a thousand Christmas lights twinkling along with the synth line while C-Sick allows his drums to slam as hard as any drill track out there. When he swaps the footwork esque snares for a straight ahead boom during the verses, the song comes back banging twice as hard. Not to be outdone, Stunt Taylor responds in kind with a twisty speed rap that tips it’s cap to midwestern legends like Twista, while retaining the melodic sensibility bop demands.

Its a double negative with these songs. Kids wanna hear but they don’t seem to make radio versions (at least I haven’t seen many) and you can’t play them where kids go. (Prom, outdoor fest)
