Words by Todd Levy & Andrew Barber

NYC and Chicago share a rich hip-hop history. From Jay Z’s work with numerous Chicago legends including Kanye West and R. Kelly, to the early bridge builders like Grav, Twista and Common — the Big Apple and the Windy City have banged out numerous classic rap records from our various heads of state.

In April of this year, NYC’s current reigning Queen, Nicki Minaj, reached out to rising Chicago star Lil Herb for the polarizing “Chiraq” further solidifying our relationship with the City that Never Sleeps. So we figured it was only right to take a walk down memory lane, and showcase 20 of our favorite Chicago/New York City hip-hop collabos. Some of our picks might’ve flown under your radar or might just be hitting your radar for the first time. Either way, learn yourself something today.  When the two cities collide great things have happened.
