Puff Daddy f/ Twista, Ginuwine & Carl Thomas “Is This The End?” (1997)
“Is This The End?” comes from Puff Daddy’s 1997 debut album No Way Out, which he dropped shortly after Biggie Smalls was tragically murdered in March of the same year. Puff and Twista make for an interesting combo, while Ginuwine and Chicago R&B upstart Carl Thomas handle the singing vocals. This joint further solidified Twista as a major artist repping the midwest, as he showed up Diddy and had one of the best verses on an already star-studded album (Jay Z, Mase, The Lox and Biggie also featured). Twista cites this verse as the tipping point of his career, where he was no longer considered a “gimmick” rapper amongst his industry peers. It also proved he could paint pictures with words, and could bring more to the table than just “Po Pimp” raps.
