FSD Feature: 20 Dope Songs In Chicago-New York Collaboration History

Posted on August 27, 2014 by FSD Staff

De La Soul f/ Common “The Bizness” (1996)

Forget Chicago and New York for a second, De La Soul and Common make for one of the best combinations in all of hip hop history. Aside from “The Bizness,” the two collaborated on “Days of Our Lives” and “Gettin’ Down at the Amphitheatre.” For “The Bizness,” De La Soul produced a relaxed instrumental and proceeded to tear it up with the assistance superb Chi City wordsmith Common. The song appeared on the trio’s stellar 1996 album, Stakes Is High. My personal favorite part of the song is when Common claims that he’ll whoop anyone’s ass in NBA Live. But still, you should heed the words of the song: always be walking around the planet earth making money having fun.
