FSD Feature: 20 Dope Songs In Chicago-New York Collaboration History

Posted on August 27, 2014 by FSD Staff

Kanye West f/ Jay Z “Diamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix)” (2005)

Jay Z. Kanye West. The Throne. To be honest, these two could have their own countdown of collaborations, because Jay Z and Kanye West themselves have been New York and Chicago’s greatest combined effort. There’s just so many — from “Takeover” and “Lucifer” during Kanye’s run as Hov’s behind-the-scenes producer. The to fast-forward to “Swagga Like Us” “Run This Town,” “So Appalled,” “Monster,” and “Clique” (just to name a few.) And who could forget West and Hov’s masterpiece, Watch The Throne. However, on the “Diamonds (Remix)” both of these top-tier rappers are in top form, and are low key trying to outdo each other. But Jay’s verse on the status of the Roc as the label was beginning to crumble was one of the most potent verses ever spitten. A truly unforgettable track.
