FSD Feature: 10 Essential Bop Songs Of 2014

Posted on December 10, 2014 by FSD Staff

Enyce – Life Good

From the chunky synths, to the black shades of the dancers in the video, to the ominous way Enyce delivers the chorus, Enyce’s “Life Good” isn’t so much about things going good as it is wondering when they’re going to go bad again. The beat sparkles while Enyce takes pleasure in the little things (“The sun is out/beamin’ down on me”) but a tense atmosphere pervades the track. It’s the exact kind of emotional complexity bop music needs to display at this point in its development. “Life Good” strikes a nerve because its optimistic but guarded tone is precisely where the bop scene itself is at right now.

Props to Bop for surviving that time when A$AP Ferg nearly killed it by guesting on the Fiesta remix.

But why isn’t the actual best Bop song of 2014 in this list – Don’t Shoot by Heaven & Lil’ Chris????
