FSD Feature: 10 Essential Bop Songs Of 2014

Posted on December 10, 2014 by FSD Staff

DJ Maine a.k.a. Big Sexy – Big Sexy Slide

With the rise of Dlow’s “Dlow Shuffle” came a wave of knockoffs that tried to mimic the party starting enthusiasm but drowned by being too similar, too complicated, or both. DJ Maine’s “Big Sexy Slide” rose above the rest by first, acknowledging the Dlow and Kemo’s influence right up front (and their “skinny ass”’s) and by upping the ante in pure enthusiasm. Maine barks out commands with the verve of a one man pep rally. Plus his dance moves are infectiously idiosyncratic (“Do that keep calm and let a fat nigga fuck!”, “Take your shirt off, ayy!”), bursting at the seams of the track off the strength of his ebullient personality.

Props to Bop for surviving that time when A$AP Ferg nearly killed it by guesting on the Fiesta remix.

But why isn’t the actual best Bop song of 2014 in this list – Don’t Shoot by Heaven & Lil’ Chris????
