21. The Boy Illinois – Jean Baptiste
The Boy Illinois’ stock continues to climb, as the rising artist has dropped two solid projects in as many years. 2013’s Jean Baptiste, however, was exactly what he needed to push his career to the next level. The mixtape is a perfect blend of astute social commentary, revolutionary thinking, as well as tracks that can appeal to the female gender. It’s the making of a what can be a long and fruitful career, and it came as no surprise that Lupe Fiasco threw Illi on his recent tour. Lu probably sees a lot of himself in the rapper.
