7. King Louie – Showtime
King Louie had a busy 2012. On top of signing a high profile deal with Lawless/Epic/Sony Records, Louie found the time to have his name changed (I guess the suits are calling him King L now?) and drop three mixtapes with all new material. Each project included album worthy material and potential singles, but it was Showtime that was the best of the bunch.
King L’s signature mellow voice compliments every track, from the turn up songs (“Drilluminati,” “On Da Road,” “Hitta Shit”) to the melodic ones (“Po’ Up,” “She Want Me,” “Pack So Loud”). Featuring production from the likes of Young Chop, C-Sick and Million $ Mano, to guest verses from Chief Keef, YP, Lil Durk and Fredo Santana, the ‘tape is an all out production. Not to mention King L gave us 22 tracks to vibe with, which shows an almost incomparable supply of work. Lights, camera, action, showtime – 2013 will definitely be another King Louie movie. Color us excited for Dope & Shrimp.
