9. Common f/ Lauryn Hill “Retrospect For Life” (1997)
Rappers are unfairly put in boxes, and a label Common has always had to roll with was “conscious.” Instead of ducking it, he wore it like a badge of honor, and there’s no better example of this than “Retrospect” featuring Lauryn Hill. The track delved into the topic of abortion and parenting, and most would find it impossible to make something dope out of a song dealing with such a heavy topic. No ID made that happen with this joint, though, with this soulful piano-driven soliloquy which sampled classics from Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder.

Crazy how No ID seemes to just stay so synonymous in his production with Hip-Hop regardless of the style and changes of mainstream music.
i figured “The Real Weight” would be in the top 5.. but it didn’t even make your list. You, my friend are retarded. Corky, not Shante retarded.
