45. Twista f/ Raekwon “The Heat” (2010)
No ID. The Legendary Traxster. The two Godfathers of the Chicago hip-hop scene. But while both producers loomed over different crime families (so to speak) and represented different sounds, they finally came together in 2008 to work as a team — and this pairing was long overdue. For those around on the internet at that time, you probably remember the No ID vs. Traxster website, where many of Chicago’s top MCs and producers came together to talk shop and swap stories (that site is truly missed). The two producers were to come together after years of respecting each other from afar to work in tandem. They were going to sign artists and put them out through their various channels, and the flagship act was none other than Mikkey Halsted.
But while we still wait for the two of them to collaborate on a full project, they have given us a few gems like Big Sean’s “I Do It.” But the one that hit home the most was “The Heat” with long-time Traxster collaborator Twista. It was only right that No ID and Trax kick off their newly formed partnership with another pioneer — Twista. Now they just need to connect with Common.

Crazy how No ID seemes to just stay so synonymous in his production with Hip-Hop regardless of the style and changes of mainstream music.
