FSD Feature: The 50 Greatest No ID Beats

Posted on November 19, 2013 by FSD Staff

46. Method Man f/ Chinky “Tease” (2004)

If you remember, No ID had a production deal with Def Jam in the early-to-mid 2000s. That would explain his presence on albums from Jay Z, Ghostface and Method Man. And surprisingly, he wasn’t giving them the type of beats he laced Common with years prior — he was giving them crossover bangers and commercial singles. “Tease” from Meth’s Tical 0 was a hit in our opinion. There were a lot of missed opportunities with that album, as “Tease” should’ve been pushed as a single. One of the other dopest beats on Tical 0 came from Chicago’s own, Boogz.

Fun fact: Mikkey Halsted and Baby/Birdman have an unreleased record over this same beat from Mikkey’s never-released Cash Money Records debut. And it’s even doper than Meth’s interpretation.

Crazy how No ID seemes to just stay so synonymous in his production with Hip-Hop regardless of the style and changes of mainstream music.
